Diamond Price Estimator
Get an estimated retail price range for natural and lab-grown diamonds based on carat weight, cut, color, clarity, and shape.
Estimates only. Not live market data.
This tool uses static reference tables based on publicly available pricing benchmarks. Actual diamond prices vary by retailer, certification lab, fluorescence, proportions, and current market conditions. Always compare certified stones from multiple vendors.

Prices are estimates based on market data. Actual prices vary by retailer, certification lab (GIA, IGI, AGS), fluorescence, specific stone proportions, and market conditions. This tool is for educational purposes only.
How is the price calculated?
The estimator uses a price-per-carat lookup table organized by color (D-M) and clarity (FL-I2), then applies multipliers for carat weight thresholds, cut grade, and shape. The base table is derived from publicly available Rapaport-style price benchmarks.
Carat multiplier:prices per carat increase at “magic numbers” (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 ct). The tool interpolates between these thresholds.
Shape discounts: Oval (−15%), Cushion (−20%), Emerald (−22%), Pear (−18%), Princess (−17%) vs Round baseline.
Lab-grown: 70% discount applied to the natural price. Real-world lab-grown discounts currently range 60-85% depending on size and quality.
The output is a ±15% range to reflect real-world variance between retailers, certification bodies, and individual stone characteristics like fluorescence and proportions.
What this tool does not cover
Fluorescence (can discount or premium a stone 5-15%), specific table/depth percentages, symmetry, polish, girdle thickness, certification lab premiums (GIA commands 5-10% over IGI), and current supply-demand dynamics.
For certified stones over 1 carat, always request an independent lab report (GIA, IGI, or AGS) and compare prices across 3-4 retailers before purchasing.
Common questions
This tool provides approximate ranges based on static reference tables, not live market data. Real prices vary by retailer, certification lab, fluorescence, and individual stone characteristics. Use the estimate as a starting point, then compare actual listings from certified retailers.
Two diamonds with identical 4C grades can differ in price by 20-30% based on factors this tool doesn't capture: fluorescence, table and depth percentages, symmetry, polish, and which lab graded it. The ±15% range reflects this real-world variance.
Lab-grown prices are estimated at 70% less than natural, which was roughly accurate in 2024-2025. As of 2026, lab-grown prices have dropped further. For stones under 2 carats, actual lab-grown prices may be even lower than what this tool shows.
Yes. GIA-certified stones typically command a 5-10% premium over IGI for natural diamonds. For lab-grown, IGI is the standard. The tool does not adjust for certification lab, so factor this in when comparing to actual listings.
Diamond prices jump at 'magic numbers' (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 carats) because of buyer demand for round carat weights. A 2.00 carat stone costs significantly more per carat than a 1.90 carat stone of identical quality. The tool models this with carat weight multipliers.
For most buyers, G color, VS2 clarity, Excellent cut offers the best balance of appearance and price. You save 30-40% compared to D/IF without a visible difference on the finger. If budget is tight, H color and SI1 clarity can be eye-clean in many stones.
